The Big E

Hunter Ridge travelled to West Springfield, Mass to compete at the famous "Big E". Tosca was named the Zone One Challange Champion at the Eastern States Exposition Horse show on October 4th. Showing in the Short Stirrup Challenge, Jordyn Freedman and Tosca bested 28 riders over 2 challenging courses and accumulated the high score of 157. They were also awarded Reserve Champion in the Short Stirrup Hunters that same day. Juneaux and Samantha Perlman also showed at the Big E and were fourth in the Children's HUnter Zone One Challenge. They competed against 18 other ponies and moved up from 7th in the first round to fourth after a beautiful second trip. Abigail showed her pony Ducks Unlimited for the first time and received ribbons in every Medium Pony Hunter class and finished eighth in her Chalenge class. Of course we all went on the rides - the Crazy Mouse being this year's favorite! And all the food was great!

Madison Qualifies 3 Ponies for Pony Finals at Saratoga I Horse Show

Madison rode The Bees Knees to the Reserve Championship in the Medium Pony Hunters the first weekend in May at the Saratoga Horse Show in Saratoga Springs, NY. The pair also placed third in the $1,500.00 Pony Hunter Classic. In the Green Pony Hunters, Madison rode her new large pony Juneaux to the Championship in only their second horsse show! Madison then rode Fox Glen's Bow Tie to the Reserve Championship to qualify him too! Bow Tie is owned by Bernie Keys of Cedar Brook Farm. Quite an amazing feat in a single horse show! Way to go, Madison!

Abigail Qualifies Pony for Pony Nationals

Abigail catch-rode Hannah Khan's pony "Clovercroft Love Bunny" to the Small Pony Hunter Championship at the Pines on Sunday, April 19th winning all three over fences classes! This qualified "Candy" for Pony Finals in Kentucky this August. Great job, Abigail!

Madison Moves Up in Florida

Madison traveld to Florida once again this winter to be a working student at SBS Farms of Buffalo, NY. Under the watchful eyes of Jennifer Alfano, Susie Schoellkopf, and Shane Powell, Madison moved up to the next level of competition showing in the ASPCA Maclay, High children's jumpers, and the 12-13 Equitation. The Equitation came easiest for Madison where she was in the top three week in and week out. In the jumpers, Truman (the horse from BTRC that Madison used and cared for) taught Madisosn the ropes of jumping 3'9" and the pair were consistently in the ribbons their last three weeks. Abigail Went down for week three to hang out with friends and never came home! She moved in with her BFF Samantha Perlman and Riverstone Farm of NY and started riding ponies for people. She stayed busy riding the Govenor for Andy Lomker, Peanut for Olana Laffy and a few others every day, which kept her very busy. Samantha showed Ducky (Ducks Unlimited), one of our favorite ponies, to many great ribbons including a second in the Handy Hunters week II.

Hunter Ridge Holds Its First Horse Show in New Location

Hunter Ridge held its first horse show on Sunday, January 25th. Although it was small, it was very successful and everyone that braved the cold temperatures had a good time. (The heated viewing lounge really helped!) Our judge was Karin Immerman, a very successful and respected hunter/jumper judge from New York. She held a clinic at HR the day before and all who participated learned a lot and enjoyed the challenges she presented to them. Special thanks to Heather Hollay Farr and Hollywood Equine for their support of the show. Our next show will be held on February 22nd. Hope to see you there!

Hunter Ridge has Moved!!

We are excited to announce that we have moved to a new facility in Woodstock, CT. Please go to the About Us page for more information.

Sammie Sparkles at the New England Finals

Congratulations to Samantha Liguori on her fantastic showing at the New England Finals. Even without her #1 partner Chip (who was sidelined with an injury), Sammie had a terrific show on Daniel despite the fact that she had only ridden him 4 times! This show meant even more to her since it was her final time competing as a junior. In addition to attending the junior celebration and being presented with a beautiful silver commemorative frame and a copy of the DVD that pays tribute to the riders in their final junior year, Sammie was also surprised by the announcement that she had won the Junior Scholarship! During her Classic round, Sammie's score earned her one of the coveted 4 riding spots on the RI Team for the Challenge of the States competition. The RI team didn't end up placing, and her medal round did not put her in the second round, but the show was truly an incredible experience for both Samantha and her family. Sammie finished up her junior riding career with an awesome performance that she will never forget.
